Company History
The company was established by Denis Hall in 1983.There were only three employees initially and they are still employed by the company, which has now expanded in size, scope and skills and covers all aspects of manufacturing from initial consultation to design ( using CAD), construction and after-sales service. The company considers itself innovative and progressive within the Offshore Container industry.
The Company places great emphasis on quality and precision and many of the containers produced are certified by Lloyds Register of Shipping. Offshore Containers are designed, constructed and tested to D.N.V. Certification Notes 2.7.1 under the approval and survey requirements of D.N.V with design approval taking place at D.N.V. headquarters in Oslo.
Global Collaborations
Mayfly Containers have trading relationships to manufacture their products in India with a truck body manufacturer, in Australia with a company who manufactures Mining equipment and in China with a 'Bulk Fluid Containers' manufacturer.
Mayfly Containers have been manufacturing steel containers for use in the North Sea oilfields for over 25 years and have accumulated a large library of design drawings and approvals. The containers have some similarities with standard shipping containers but are a much higher specification and different shapes and sizes as they are used to transport anything (from drill pipes to food supplies), shipped from the nearest convenient ports to deep sea oil rigs.
The containers are used for multiple journeys, have to withstand loading and unloading in rough seas and are expected to have a usable life of up to 20 years. Before delivery to our clients they are rigorously inspected and tested (including drop testing them to ensure they can withstand impact).
They are signed off as fit for use by one of the approved agencies such as DNV or Lloyds.
Our designs are also approved by one of these agencies for each type of container.
DNV have several branches worldwide.
